From the time I was a little girl, I could be found in a quiet place with a pencil and a sketch book. Drawing for hours each day critiquing and improving my skill set. As a self-taught artist, I am still learning new things and growing with my experiences.
Keeping tiny pencils in a mason jar is how I express my drawing progress over the past few years. The idea came from one of my professors who said, “When you use a regular pencil, sharpen it down until you can’t use it anymore; don’t throw them away, instead keep them in a jar or box.” I took that advice and have saved each pencil sharpen down to the nub with an assigned date in a jar. This not only lets me visualize growth, it is also serving as a visual reminder of my commitment as an artist.
Currently, working as a freelancer for friends, family, and co-workers; in hopes to continue current projects and pursuits, hoping to one day own my studio and comic book series.
